Rickie Fowler woke up Sunday with a 4 stroke lead and putted out for a 4 stroke victory at the Honda Classic. Rickie made birdie at 16 for a 5 shot lead but on the par-3 17th, his tee-shot entered the water hazard. Amongst whispers of past blown leads, Fowler landed his 3rd shot close and putted for bogey. Many players lost shots on the final holes.
Fowler enters the World Golf Rankings’ top-10 with valued points for grabs this week in Mexico. Meanwhile, two also-rans mentioning are Gary Woodland and Tyrrell Hatton.
Woodland, tied for 2nd, is playing for an automatic entry on Team USA for the Presidents Cup while Hatton’s played great golf in the European Tour and looking to secure a “temporary” PGA membership and gain exposure in America, along with young countryman Matthew Fitzpatrick. Hatton struggled on Sunday, finishing tied for 4th while Fitzpatrick barely made the cut.
